WHAT YOU’LL COME AWAY WITH
This mini retreat is more than another item on your to-do list. We hope that by the end of our time you will:
Feel more grounded, embodied, and present in your body and spirit
Sense renewed hope and wonder for your own ministry and life
Have space to reflect, rest, and listen: to God, to your own heart, and to sibling clergy women
Be reminded that you are not alone
QUIET DAY SCHEDULE
The Advent Mini Retreat will be hosted on Zoom from 12 noon - 3 pm Eastern on Thursday, December 18 (that’s 11-2 Central, 10-1 Mountain, 9-12 Pacific, or 5-8 PM in London!). We encourage you to set aside space and join us for the entire time; we’ll send out tips for creating home altars and ways to extend your retreat before or after our time together. We encourage you to treat the time as a sacred container. Wherever you are joining from, set aside space and gather what you need: tea or coffee, a candle, a journal or coloring pages, a blanket or comfy slippers.
12 pm - 1:15 pm ET: Gathering #1, including opening meditation, reflection time, and interactive session led by Callie
1:15 - 1:35 pm ET: Open time for nourishment and rest
1:35 - 2:40 pm ET: Gathering #2, including interactive session led by Heidi, reflection time
2:40 - 3:00 pm ET: Closing sound bath
We will send out optional suggestions for “pre-retreat” preparation (space for prayer, altar-making, or quiet reflection) and “post-retreat practices” to help the nourishment of our time together take root in daily life.
LOGISTICS AND COST
To create a true retreat atmosphere, we invite you to find a space for the day where your mind can be focused, your body can be rested, and your soul can be stirred. All that’s required is a computer or tablet. Surrounding yourself with some favorite things—tea/coffee/snacks, a candle, blanket, journal, cozy house shoes—and dressing comfortably is encouraged! As humans who care for pets and children and other things, we understand the demands on your life and will have great compassion for distractions that may arise.
In the space of this retreat, we commit to embracing antiracist principles, and strive to be inclusive of all ages, abilities, social locations, and more. We offer a special welcome to those who are LGBTQ+. This event is for all who feel most comfortable in a women-centered space. You can note on your registration form or reach out directly about any needs for accommodations related to dis/ability.
The cost for the Epiphany Quiet Day is $60. Please be in touch if you’d like to contribute toward another person’s registration fee or if you’d like financial assistance. Those individuals with continuing education or professional funds can use those to register; an email receipt will be sent.
Note: When completing registration, you’ll select “add to cart,” then you’ll need to select the cart/bag icon again to pay and check out. (Otherwise your registration will be incomplete and we won’t know you wanted to join us!)
We hope you’ll take a pause with us.
RETREAT LEADERS
Heidi Carrington Heath (she/her) is a dreamer, a doer, and a child of God (spoiler alert: you are, too). She is also the Executive Director of NH’s oldest LGBTQ+ organization focused on serving children, youth, and families, and a trained interfaith Chaplain. She is ordained in the United Church of Christ (UCC). Heidi is passionate about caring for clergy, and nourishing their spirits. When not leading retreats, or working for the safety and thriving of young people, you can find her browsing an indie bookstore, trying a latte in a new place, or catching live music whenever she can. HCH lives in NH with her family, and a grumpy, old man cat named Windsor.
Callie Swanlund (she/her) is an Episcopal priest, retreat leader, spiritual companion, and coach who helps others know their belovedness and find their Spark. Her book, From Weary to Wholehearted, is a restorative resource for overcoming ministry burnout. Callie is a creative minister trained in the work of Dr. Brené Brown and leads individuals and groups. Callie recently completed her 100-hour training in sound meditation facilitation, equipping her to use instruments from around the world to create an embodied spiritual practice. She lives in Philadelphia with her co-dreaming partner Jeremy Tackett, their two tween/teen children, and a rescue pup named Rufus.
