Holy Present: A Wholehearted Women's Retreat in Tulum | Jan 31–Feb 4
Holy Present
A Sacred Pause in Tulum, Mexico
January 31–February 4, 2027 · Amansala Resort
On the very first Epiphany, the Magi brought gifts that honored Love Incarnate coming into the world. During Epiphany-tide 2027, give yourself the holy present of being wholly present. This oceanside retreat is for those of us who are often caring for others but forgetting to nourish our own souls. It’s for those of us who are exhausted but never feel fully rested. Holy Present is an invitation into something more. It’s five days to be wholly present to yourself, to God, and to a small community of women* walking the same road.
We'll gather at Amansala—Sanskrit for "peaceful waters"—an eco-chic resort tucked along the Riviera Maya, where the turquoise waters of the Caribbean convene with ancient spirituality, and the pace of life slows to something more life-giving. This isn't a retreat packed with programming. It's spacious by design: unhurried mornings, embodied spiritual practices, communal meals, spaces for reflection, time in the sun and the water, and a sacred structure that runs through it all.
*This is a space that celebrates gender and LGBTQ+ diversity. Women and those most comfortable in women-identified spaces are invited to register.
Your Guide
I'm the Rev. Callie Swanlund—an Episcopal priest, retreat leader, spiritual companion, and coach who helps others know their belovedness and find their Spark. I'm the author of From Weary to Wholehearted, which has become a touchstone resource for clergy and spiritual leaders across denominational lines, and I'm a certified sound meditation facilitator who weaves embodied practice into my retreat and coaching work. I lead retreats and speak at conferences around the world. Most of all, I help people remember that they are not alone and claim nourishment for their souls.

Day 3—Wonder & Wandering: Morning mangrove tour through Sian Ka'an's waterways (options include kayaking or swimming!), followed by an afternoon of rest and optional spa time, and an evening sound bath offered by Callie’s sound healing mentors Renee and Antonio.
Day 4—Kinship & Breath: Morning yoga and gathering time, spacious time for your soul, closing evening and celebratory together.
Day 5—Blessing & Departure: Breakfast, a closing ritual, and departure by noon (shuttle options at 10am and 12pm).

Common Questions
What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies? Amansala's kitchen can accommodate most dietary needs— vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other common food allergies. Just let us know when you register, and we'll make sure the kitchen has what they need to take good care of you.
How fit do I need to be? You don't need to be a yogi or an athlete. Yoga sessions offer modifications for every body and experience level, and the mangrove tour includes gentle options like floating and light kayaking alongside the option to swim. You're always welcome to opt for the calmer version of any activity.
What should I pack? We'll send a full packing list closer to the retreat, but plan for beach wear, comfortable clothing for yoga and walking, and something a little special for our closing dinner.
Is airfare included? No, you're responsible for booking your own flights to Cancun International Airport (CUN). Roundtrip transfer between CUN and Amansala is included, for those who arrive before 2pm on arrival day.
What if the retreat sells out? Registration is capped at 20 to keep this retreat intimate, so we do expect it to fill. If it does, reach out; we'll keep a waitlist in case a spot opens up.
I don't know anyone else coming. Can I room with someone? Absolutely! Many women come solo. If you choose Double Occupancy, let us know at registration and we'll help match you with a roommate.
Do I need to be Christian, or a particular kind of Christian, to come? This retreat is rooted in Callie's own expansive spirituality and Episcopal tradition. The language throughout leans into that tradition. All are welcome who are drawn to this kind of sacred pause, regardless of where you land theologically.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
